"Dementia in Europe: a challenge for our common future" - Main contents

The international conference “Dementia in Europe: a challenge for our common future” will take place at Ribotta auditorium (Eur) in Rome on 14 November starting from 9:00 A.M. The event is organized by the Health Ministry and is an opportunity to talk about dementia and Alzheimer with the contribution of scientists and organizations as well as of European experts from the EU Commission, AIFA and WHO.
In the ageing European society, dementia is a major cause of disability and the fourth leading cause of death among people over 65. Alzheimer disease constitutes 54% of all cases of dementia and mainly affects people over the age of 65. This pathology increases with age and is more frequent among women.
The Conference on Dementia is an opportunity to present and discuss the strategies implemented in Europe in such field with a view to develop prevention and treatment initiatives focussing on the health of the elderly.
