Josep Borrell Fontelles (1947) is the high representative for foreign and security policy of the EU in the Von der Leyen Commission since December 1st 2019 on behalf of Spain. He served as minister in several governments in Spain, and as member of the European Parliament - which he chaired from 2004-2007. He was aligned with the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
