About this consultation

Feedback period

11 October 2019 - 3 January 2020 (midnight Brussels time)

Topic

Banking and financial services

Target audience

This consultation is open to all citizens. Feedback is sought, in particular, from the following “key stakeholders”: institutions, banking associations and other financial services providers, bank clients, consumer representatives as well as public authorities, including supervisors.

Why we are consulting

As part of the implementation process of the final set of Basel III reforms in the EU, the Commission services aim to gather stakeholders’ views on specific topics in the areas of credit risk, operational risk, market risk, credit valuation adjustment risk, securities financing transactions as well as in relation to the output floor.

Beyond these topics related to the Basel III implementation, the Commission services would also welcome stakeholders’ views on certain other subjects with a view to ensuring convergent and consistent supervisory practices across the Union and alleviating the administrative burden.

The public consultation follows a first exploratory consultation conducted in spring 2018, the technical advice submitted by the European Banking Authority and the ongoing exchange with stakeholders and experts. The feedback from the public consultation and the EBA's advice will feed into the Commission's impact assessment. Respondents are encouraged to provide as much evidence as possible.
