20 October 2017: European Union receives the prestigious Premio Princesa de Asturias de la Concordia award

The news:

On 20 October 2017, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker i, together with the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani i and the President of the European Council Donald Tusk i, will travel to Spain to receive, on behalf of the European Union, the Premio Princesa de Asturias de la Concordia award.

The background:

On 21 June 2017, the European Union was awarded the Premio Princesa de Asturias de la Concordia award from Spain. In their statement on the occasion, the three Presidents called it “a significant recognition in a year marked by the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.”

The event:

On 20 October 2017, the Premios Princesa de Asturias award ceremony will take place in Oviedo, Spain, as of 18.30 (CET). The three Presidents will deliver speeches at the event, which His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain will open. The award ceremony will be followed by a cocktail reception, in the presence of all award-winners for 2017 and Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain.
