The European Parliament is the EU's law-making body. It is directly elected by EU voters every 5 years.
What does the Parliament do?
The Parliament has 3 main roles:

-Passing EU laws, together with the Council of the EU, based on European Commission proposals
- 1.The Paul-Henri Spaak building houses the hemicycle for plenary sessions of the European Parliament in Brussels.
- 2.Petri Sarvamaa is a member of the European Parliament since 1 March 2012 for "Kansallinen Kokoomus", which is aligned with the European People's Party. Sarvamaa is elected on behalf of Finland.
- 3.Eider Gardiazabal Rubial is a member of the European Parliament since 14 July 2009 for the "Partido Socialista Obrero Español", which is aligned with the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats. Gardiazabal Rubial is elected on behalf of Spain.
- 4.Daniel Freund is a member of the European Parliament since 2 July 2019 for "Bündnis 90/Die Grünen", which is aligned with the Greens/European Free Alliance. Freund is elected on behalf of Germany.
- 5.Moritz Körner is a member of the European Parliament since 2 July 2019 for the "Freie Demokratische Partei" as a non-attached member. Körner is elected on behalf of Germany.
