Eind juni komt de Europese Raad bijeen om over een aantal belangrijke thema’s die de toekomst van de EU betreffen, te spreken. Deze bijeenkomst vindt plaats onder een internationaal-politiek gesternte dat door de nodige turbulentie wordt gekenmerkt. Daarnaast werpt binnen de EU de komende Britse uittreding - Brexit- haar schaduw vooruit. Wat staat er op de agenda, in welke politieke omgeving - nationaal en internationaal - wordt deze besproken, en wat is de inzet van het kabinet?
Joost Flamand, plv. Directeur-Generaal Europese Samenwerking bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, zal op deze vragen ingaan tijdens een inleiding op donderdag 7 juni. Zijn presentatie zal worden gevolgd door ruime gelegenheid voor vraag en antwoord en discussie. Deze bijeenkomst wordt gehouden onder de Chatham House Rule
Het programma is als volgt:
17.00 - 17.15 uur: Inloop
17.15 - 18.30 uur: Lezing, Q&A en afsluitend een informele borrel.
Deze bijeenkomst is de laatste lezing uit de Van Bylandtlezingenreeks en wordt financieel ondersteund door de Van Bylandtstichting.

Het Instituut Clingendael is gevestigd in het historische “Huys Clingendael” en gelegen in het gelijknamige park in Wassenaar nabij de grens met Den Haag.
Bezoek-/navigatieadres is Clingendael 7 te Den Haag.
Het park is niet toegankelijk voor gemotoriseerd verkeer. U dient buiten het park te parkeren. Aan de Wassenaarseweg is dit tegen betaling, op de Ruychrocklaan kunt u gratis parkeren.

The Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael is a knowledge institute for international relations. In a constantly changing global environment, Clingendael acts as a think-tank as well as a diplomatic academy in order to identify and analyze emerging political and social developments for the benefit of the Dutch government and the general public.
Clingendael seeks to achieve this objective through research, by publishing studies, organising courses and training programmes, and by providing information. The Institute acts in an advisory capacity to the government, parliament and social organisations, holds conferences and seminars, maintains a library and documentation centre, and publishes a Dutch language monthly on international politics as well as a newsletter. Clingendael currently employs some 110 staff, the majority of whom are researchers and training staff.
