The CONNECT University Autumn Session on "AI & Jobs" explores the technological, social and economic dimensions of Artificial Intelligence and automation, highlighting the way evolutions in AI & disruptive innovation are changing our society, particularly with regard to economic growth and jobs. Preparing citizens for the remodelling of the economic system remains a main concern of many thought leaders in technology and the social sciences. The key disruptions within the employment landscape may lead to limitless opportunities, but on the other hand, a massive displacement of jobs can happen.

We recognise robotic automation as an inevitably disruptive force, but as technology evolves and robots rise, how will AI impact our jobs?

The session aims to look at the topic from different angles, with speakers that hold strong and diverse views for the debate:

  • Mady Delvaux-Stehres, Member of the European Parliament, S&D group, rapporteur of an own-initiative legislative report on Civil Law Rules on Robotics
  • Andrea Renda, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Regulatory Policy at the Centre for European Policy Studies, Chair for Digital Innovation at the College of Europe in Bruges
  • Marianne Saam, project leader, "The sectoral impact of the digitisation of the Economy", now professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum
  • Marius Leordeanu, Associate Professor, University Politehnica of Bucharest
  • Vlad-Luchian Corsate, Deputy Director General S&T Romania
  • DG CNECT
  • DG EMPL
  • DG GROW
