Activity report: Every year in July an expert meeting is convened to discuss amendments to the annex of the Marine Equipment Directive. The annex contains the requirements (international standards) which equipment that is placed on board ships has to comply with. Due to technical developments, these requirements change continiously. Therefore it is necessary to update the annex of the Directive every year.

Activity report: The expert group on Marine Equipment met on 12 July 2011 and discussed the 8th amendment of the technical annex of the marine equipment Directive (Directive 96/98/EC). This meeting was aimed at preparing the document for submission to the COSS Committee. The next meeting of the expert group will be held in July 2012.

Selection procedure: It is up to the Member States to nominate their representatives. Norway and Iceland may attend the meeting as observers. In December 2014 the Commission issued a call for applications on the Register of Expert Groups in order to allow stakeholders to participate in the expert group as observers.
Rules of procedure: The MED Expert Group adopted its Rules of Procedure on 24 November 2021.
