More than 2,000 participants will attend, including ministers from the EU and neighbouring countries, members of the European Parliament and Commission, TEN-T coordinators and representatives of the European Investment Bank.

Motorways of the Sea

The main theme will be the funding and development of road, inland navigation and rail corridors and the ‘Motorways of the Sea’. The Van Nelle Factory will also host a large exhibition featuring more than 100 initiatives and innovative projects that contribute to European infrastructure.

Silk Road

On Monday Ms Schultz van Haegen will attend a meeting on innovations in inland navigation and chair sessions on new transport initiatives. On Tuesday she will meet transport ministers to discuss the European network’s connection to strategic corridors in neighbouring countries. As an international transport hub, the Netherlands is understandably interested in good connections to the Silk Road, for example.

Rail Summit

State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment Sharon Dijksma will discuss the European rail sector with transport ministers and representatives of the transport industry on Tuesday. EU member states will discuss ways to improve freight corridors in Europe. During a separate rail summit, the Benelux and Germany will make agreements on faster, more convenient international passenger rail connections.
