Every two years, the CoR holds a European Summit of Regions and Cities. These summits bring elected representatives from regional and local authorities together to discuss the main challenges facing the European Union.

Bratislava will host the 7th Summit of Regions and Cities to be held on 8-9 July 2016. The Summit is being organised by the European Committee of the Regions and co-hosted by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region and the City of Bratislava, in cooperation with the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Gathering over 700 participants and open to all CoR members, this major event coincides with the start of the Slovakian EU Presidency which begins on 1 July.

Under the title 'Invest and Connect', EU leaders and representatives from both the public and private sector will consider how to strengthen connections between Europe's people, places, ideas and resources through investment. A number of side events, such as concerts and public debates, are also planned over the two days.

More information about registration and the programme will be made available in due course.

Meeting of the Summit organising partners: Ivo Nesrovnal (Mayor of Bratislava), Ľubomír Vážny (Slovak Deputy Prime Minister), Markku Markkula (President CoR) and Pavol Frešo (President of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region)
