ESA/JRC international summer school on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Ispra - Main contents

The Summer School will give a comprehensive overview of satellite navigation, including the architecture of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), its signals , the processing of GNSS measurements in a receiver and, finally, the determination of the Position Navigation Time (PNT) solution.

The programme includes hands-on lab work, as well as lectures on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patents and other business aspects. The future of satellite systems will also be discussed.

The Summer School is open to graduate students (with a first university degree), Ph.D. candidates, early-stage researchers and young professional willing to broaden their knowledge.

This directorate-general provides the Commission with scientific advice and technical support in order to help formulate, implement and monitor a wide range of policies of the European Union. If requested it will advise the Council, Parliament and the member-states.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) also conducts scientific research.
