JAI-nummer

JAI is one of the possible codes assigned to documents from one most important series of publications issued by the European Commission. The JAI document code was used up until 2012 when it was replaced by the JOIN i designation.

JAI-documents were joint proposals, communications, reports, white papers and green papers that were formally adopted by both the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

In practice JAI-proposals and other JAI-documents originated from one or more of the member states but, as the European Commission is the sole institution with the right of initiative, these proposals and other documents formally had to be submitted by the European Commission.
