The Committee of Ministers calls on States to effectively discharge their obligation to co-operate with the European Court of Human Rights

Strasbourg, 05.07.2006 - The Committee of Ministers yesterday adopted a Resolution deploring the fact that violations of contracting states’ obligation of co-operation with the European Court of Human Rights had continued to be found in recent judgments by this Court.

The Committee recalled the fundamental nature of this obligation to co-operate and called upon contracting states to ensure that all measures have been taken so that relevant authorities may comply with requests for assistance from the Court, and to ensure that authorities effectively seised with such requests comply strictly with them.
