COUNCIL DECISION (EU) 2021/1172

of 18 June 2021

on the conclusion, on behalf of the European Union, of the Agreement with Respect to Time Limitations on Arrangements for the Provision of Aircraft with Crew between the European Union, the United States of America, Iceland, and the Kingdom of Norway

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 100(2) in conjunction with point (a) of the second subparagraph of Article 218(6) thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the European Commission,

Having regard to the consent of the European Parliament (1),

Whereas:

In accordance with Council Decision (EU) 2019/1580 (2), the Agreement with Respect to Time Limitations on Arrangements for the Provision of Aircraft with Crew between the European Union, the United States of America, Iceland, and the Kingdom of Norway ('the Agreement') (3) was signed on 27 August 2019, subject to its conclusion at a later date. The Agreement, which is attached to Decision (EU) 2019/1580 together with the Memorandum of Consultations (4), has been applied on a provisional basis since the date of signature thereof.

As provided by the Joint Declaration forming an integral part of the Agreement and by Decision (EU) 2019/1580, the Agreement, which has been signed in English, has also been drawn up in other official languages of the Union and those additional language versions are to be authenticated by an exchange of letters between the Parties.

The Agreement should be approved,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The Agreement with Respect to Time Limitations on Arrangements for the Provision of Aircraft with Crew between the European Union, the United States of America, Iceland, and the Kingdom of Norway, of which the Joint Declaration forms an integral part, is hereby approved on behalf of the Union (5).

Article 2

The President of the Council shall, on behalf of the Union, give the notification provided for in Article 7(1) of the Agreement (6).

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
