Informal Videoconference of EU Ministers for Internal Market and Industry (COMPET): These topics are on the agenda

On 18 September, EU ministers responsible for the internal market and industry will come together via videoconference. German Minister for Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier will chair the virtual meeting.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting will take place via videoconference. During their meeting, EU ministers will focus on Europe's recovery from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a brief introduction of Germany’s priorities during its Presidency, German Minister for Economic Affairs Altmaier will discuss with his EU counterparts how to deepen the EU’s Single Market in order to kickstart a strong recovery for a more competitive and sustainable Europe. Strengthening the international competitiveness of European industry and creating future-oriented policies for small and medium-sized businesses will also be discussed.

Economic Affairs Minister Altmaier’s opening statement will be broadcast on the eu2020.de homepage on 18 September beginning at 9.15. The minister’s press conference with European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton i following the videoconference will be carried live on the eu2020.de homepage beginning at 13.30.
