Livestream at 16.00: Press conference following the Informal Meeting of EU Research Ministers

On 21 July, the research ministers of the EU’s 27 member states participated in their first informal meeting during Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. They discussed current issues in European research and innovation policy, among other topics.

The informal meeting was chaired by Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research, Anja Karliczek, who welcomed research ministers at 9.15 with a virtual statement that was broadcast live. The meeting itself started at 10.00.

At this informal meeting, research ministers discussed the contributions of research and innovation to processes of social, economic and ecological transformation. At this first meeting of research ministers during Germany’s Council Presidency, the Trio Presidencies of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia presented their common roadmap for research and education policy.

The Federal Minister of Education and Research, Anja Karliczek, and the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel i, will hold a joint press conference after the meeting at 16.00. This press conference will also be broadcast live.
