Modernising bus stops in Czechia to improve accessibility

Six bus stops in the city of Otrokovice, Czechia, will be made accessible for persons with disabilities, thanks to ERDF. The refurbished stops will also receive new roofs and modern street furnishings.

Buses currently have to stop in the middle of the road, blocking traffic when passengers are getting in and out. The new bus stops will allow traffic to continue moving. The works will include improvements to the pavement and passenger crossings. The works are expected to begin in June and completion is expected by the end of August 2020.

The renovations are part of a second phase of an ERDF-funded project within the city. The first phase, implemented in 2019, reconstructed five bus stops as part of the city’s sustainable mobility plan.
