Description

WIK-Consult will present the preliminary results of the study.

The study starts with an overview of developments in international e-commerce markets and the recent changes to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) remuneration systems.

The subsequent aims of the study are to analyse

  • the economic effects of UPU remuneration systems on postal operators, e-retailers and consumers
  • customs, VAT and security aspects of postal imports, considering the EU reforms planned for 2021

The results of the study are based on extensive surveys of postal operators, regulators and customs authorities, as well as on interviews, modelling work and other research.

Attendees will be able to exchange opinions on these important developments and share views on the way forward in a Q&A session.

In addition, there will be panel debates, moderated by WIK-Consult, to discuss subjects related to the study.

A detailed agenda will be published soon.

The workshop will take place from 9.45 to approximately 16.00 (CET). Welcome coffee starts at 9.00 (CET). We strongly advise you to come earlier due to security control that could take around 30 minutes.

Please register to the workshop no later than 12 March 2020.

Due to Commission security measures, the information requested in the online form is necessary to provide you with an 'E-Pass' via mail. The E-Pass will be needed, together with your passport or ID card, to enter the Commission building on the day of the event.
