October 2019 will mark one year since the launch of the 2018 updated European bioeconomy strategy, which put forward an action plan to develop a sustainable and circular bioeconomy.
To mark the occasion, and to find out what is happening with local bioeconomies, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission will hold an event to take stock of progress and to find out what is planned for the next few years.
Guest speakers from governments, businesses, workers, academia and NGOs will be invited to discuss bioeconomy strategies, the importance of education and training, Europe's blue bioeconomy, and the link between our bioeconomy and food.
The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an EU advisory body composed of locally and regionally elected representatives coming from all 27 Member States. Through the CoR they are able to share their opinion on EU legislation that directly impacts regions and cities.
What does the CoR do?
The CoR gives regions and cities a formal say in EU law-making ensuring that the position and needs of regional and local authorities are respected.
