Overview of the main subjects to be discussed at meetings of the Council of the EU over the next two weeks.

Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council, 13 and 14 June 2019

On Thursday 13, ministers will be briefed on the progress achieved on the Directive on equal treatment and will adopt conclusions on a European Court of Auditors' report on the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived, on measures for closing the gender pay gap and on the changing world of work. They will also hold a vote to select the seat of the European Labour Authority.

On Friday 14, ministers will adopt conclusions on combatting antimicrobial resistance and will hold a debate on how to use EU funds to support health investments.

Economic and Financial Affairs Council, 14 June 2019

The Council will discuss the taxation and financial aspects of the "Clean Planet for all" communication by the Commission and the country specific recommendations of the 2019 European Semester. They will also hold a debate on the financial transaction tax.

Foreign Affairs Council, 17 June 2019

Foreign ministers will discuss current affairs, the effectiveness of the Common Foreign and Security Policy and Sudan. They will have an informal exchange of views with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Ayman Safadi focusing on recent developments in the Middle East. Foreign ministers and defence ministers will have a comprehensive discussion on the EU Global Strategy.

General Affairs Council, 18 June 2019

The Council will discuss the 2019 enlargement package and the next multiannual financial framework. It will also continue preparations for the June European Council.

Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 18 June 2019

The Council is due to agree a partial general approach on the regulation on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. It will also be informed about a communication on the state of play of the Common Fisheries Policy and the fishing opportunities for 2020, as well as about a progress report on the post 2020 CAP reform package

European Council, 20 and 21 June 2019

The European Council is expected to take decisions on appointments for the next institutional cycle and adopt the 2019-2024 Strategic Agenda. Leaders will also discuss the EU's long term budget and climate change. Other issues on the agenda include the European Semester and disinformation. The European Council may also address specific foreign policy issues and will be followed by a Euro Summit where leaders are expected to discuss the reform of the European Monetary Union (EMU).
