State of Local and Regional Democracy in Europe
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the two institutions, come and witness the synergies between the work of the European Committee of the Regions and the Congress of the Council of Europe to further strengthen local self-government and regional democracy.
This anniversary event will explore how local and regional authorities maintains the social fabric of societies and safeguard democracy and accountability.
The event will take place on:
27 June 2019 between 14.00 and 17.00
in the Committee of the Regions building

(Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in French, English, German, Finnish and Italian)
Please note that - due to security reasons - only registered persons have access to the Committee's building. You will be requested to show a valid id card or passport in order to access the building, or any other valid document which includes a photo.
Please also note that in order to reduce paper waste, the CoR will not provide paper copies of documents for the meeting.

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an EU advisory body composed of locally and regionally elected representatives coming from all 27 Member States. Through the CoR they are able to share their opinion on EU legislation that directly impacts regions and cities.
What does the CoR do?
The CoR gives regions and cities a formal say in EU law-making ensuring that the position and needs of regional and local authorities are respected.
