Luc van Middelaar, author of 'The passage to Europe' (2013), will talk about his new book, 'Alarum and Excursions: Improvising Politics on the European Stage' (2019). This explores the nature of the EU as a political system through the lens of European summits and 'crisis politics' during the 2010s. From 2009-14, he was political adviser to Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council.
