Circular Economy Competences - Making the case for Lifelong Learning, Brussels - Main contents

Mainstreaming circular economy in lifelong learning has a strong potential to boost professional competences that match the needs of a growing circular economy job market. This kind of training can be introduced at different levels in the education system, from schools to vocational education and training. But how does this work in practice and what kind of policies can support the process?
ACR+ is organising the event “Circular Economy Competences Making the Case for Lifelong Learning”, taking place on 19 February 2019 at the European Parliament in Brussels, from 9:00 to 11:00. The event, co-hosted by MEPs Silvia Costa and Simona Bonafè, aims to bring together existing practices and key actors of circular economy in education, fostering a Europe-wide debate on circular economy and education that can facilitate and promote international cooperation through knowledge sharing and exchange of good practices.
The agenda will feature experts and practitioners from local and regional authorities, training providers, NGOs and academia across Europe who will exchange their views and share their experiences in three thematic panels. To frame the state-of-the-art of European policies and future perspectives, high representatives from the European Parliament and European Commission will contribute with welcome addresses and closing remarks.
The event takes place in the framework of the Erasmus + CYCLE project, co-funded by the European Commission.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is an EU advisory body comprising representatives of workers' and employers' organisations and other interest groups. It issues opinions on EU issues to the European Commission, the Council of the EU and the European Parliament, thus acting as a bridge between the EU's decision-making institutions and EU citizens.
What does the EESC do?
It gives the interest groups a formal say on EU legislative proposals. Its 3 key tasks are to:
