Based on the initiative of the Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, there has been an event created which addresses the broken promise of the Internet. Equality for all, was supposed to be guaranteed online. Yet, it has not been able to deliver upon that promise. Instead, it created a new class of monopolies and oligarchs.

Now, it is time to save the internet!

On January 9th form 15:00 until 18:30 we discuss how can stop the influence and power of tech giants and how to build alternatives. Additionally, how will we give internet users their data back? And lastly, how can the 99% organise itself against big corporations?

During the event “Saving the Internet for the many, not the few”, we will elaborate on and discuss the social, economic impact and challenges. We will extensively discus this together with the U.S. political Economist and social technologist Glen Weyl and and Francesca Bria, of the Barcelona city council, who started an initiative to hand data back to users.

When: January 9th from 15:00 until 18:30
