Committee of the Regions (CoR)

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an EU advisory body composed of locally and regionally elected representatives coming from all 27 Member States. Through the CoR they are able to share their opinion on EU legislation that directly impacts regions and cities.

What does the CoR do?

The CoR gives regions and cities a formal say in EU law-making ensuring that the position and needs of regional and local authorities are respected.

    Jean-Claude Juncker (1945) is the president of the European Commission. Juncker is a member of the Luxembourg party Christian Social People's Party (CVP), which is aligned with the European People's Party. Juncker server as prime minister of Luxembourg for nearly twenty years.

    Corina Creţu (1967) is the European Commissioner for regional policy in the Juncker Commission since 1st November 2014 on behalf of Romania. Creţu is a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) which is aligned with the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
     
  • 3. 
    Viorica Dăncilă (1963) was a member of the European Parliament from 21 January 2009 to 28 January 2018 as an independent member, and was aligned with the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats. Dăncilă took seat in Parliament on behalf of Romania.
     
  • 4.

    Van 1 januari tot en met 30 juni 2019 vervulde Roemenië het voorzitterschap van de Raad van de Europese Unie. Roemenië volgde hiermee Oostenrijk op. Roemenië was voor het eerst voorzitter van de Raad; het land is in 2007 lid geworden van de Europese Unie.
