Based on the EPRS publication 'Demographic Outlook for the European Union', this event will discuss the stagnating and ageing of the EU population, the drivers of population change (increasing longevity, lower fertility rates, migration), including regional aspects, and set the ageing EU in the context of global population changes. As this paper includes a focus on health, the event will also highlight key questions such as: ‘Are the longer lives we are living also healthier lives?’
