The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) in association with the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) is organising a public hearing entitled "Labelling of Origin for Agricultural and Food Products” from 15.00 to 18.00.

The aim of this hearing will be to discuss on the one hand the implementation of national labelling schemes, with experiences from Italy, Finland and France and, on the other hand, whether the implementing act laying down rules for indicating the country of origin or place of provenance of foods (pursuant to Article 26(3) of Reg. 1169/201), published on 29 May in the Official Journal, is a sufficient response to consumers' demand for transparency and the needs of actors throughout the food supply chain.
