European Commissioner for the Environment Karmenu Vella will open European Maritime Day 2018 with European Parliament Chair Iskra Mihaylova and Bulgaria’s Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski at a two-day event hosted by Burgas Free University in Bulgaria.

The conference is dedicated to oceans, seas and coasts, sharing project ideas and bringing together potential partners from across the EU. Its programme this year includes over 18 stakeholder workshops and side-events, B2B networking meetings, a high-level debate on how to spur blue growth in the Black Sea region, and a plenary session on EU funds for blue growth and sea-basin cooperation.

The European Maritime Day exhibition will run in parallel with the conference, offering a forum for stakeholders to meet and showcase ideas, products and services related to the sustainable use of oceans, seas and coastlines. In collaboration with the European Commission, DG MARE, the LIFE programme will man a stand in the exhibition area, where a communications expert will answer questions and disseminate LIFE project results.

Participation is free but delegates are invited to register online before 25 May 2018. For further information, please contact the event organiser.
