How to Brexit? Two days before the British elections, De Balie will speak with European Commentator of the Year Fintan O’Toole (European Press Prize Winner, Journalist The Irish Times) and Felix Klos (author and historian specialized in modern British history).
In the search for strategies to enforce a smooth Brexit, prime minister Theresa May has called a snap election in the U.K. May hopes to strengthen her hand in Brexit talks, by asking for a broad mandate from the voters. According to the latest polls May has a very big chance of winning the elections in June. What are the stakes at the British Elections? Is it all about Brexit, or should other issues get more priority?
We will talk extensively about the British elections, but also discuss Britain's current road towards a Brexit. How powerful will May be after the elections now the Labour party remains divided under Jeremy Corbyn? What future will the British people choose on the 8th of June?
