Background
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is the organisation responsible for conducting the selection processes for the EU Institutions.
EPSO created its Network of Experts in 2004. The Network meets twice a year, usually under the Member State holding the presidency of the Council of the EU. Its members represent the Human Resource bodies of their respective national administrations. The Network is a high profile and active forum where issues related to selection to the EU Institutions are discussed in a transparent manner and where innovations in Human Resources and selection have been presented.
EPSO invites renowned expert speakers to give presentations on the latest innovative developments and best practice in the field of selection. It is also customary for the host country to presents its best practices and recent developments in the field.
Aim
The Maltese Presidency will provide an overview on the Malta Public Service with insights on the different aspects of people management. It will also share with the forum the recent initiatives it has embarked upon. The one-and-a-half-day agenda ends with a round table discussion on the themes and ideas exchanged, particularly the forecasted EPSO agenda and the selection processes envisaged to be undertaken in the course of the current calendar year.
EPSO's role is to serve the EU Institutions by providing high quality, efficient and effective selection procedures that enable them to recruit the right person, for the right job, at the right time.
EPSO is responsible for selecting staff to work for the Institutions and Agencies of the European Union including the European Parliament, the Council, the European Commission, the Court of Justice, the Court of Auditors, the European External Action Service, the Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, the European Data Protection Supervisor and the European Ombudsman. Each Institution is then able to recruit staff from among the pool of candidates selected by EPSO.
