Activity report: The Expert Group on alternative transport fuels ('the Sustainable Transport Forum')should help the Commission to advance the application of the Clean Power for Transport strategy and facilitate the implementation of Directive 2014/94/EU.To achieve the aims the STF shall in particular: -provide advice and technical expertise to the Commission on the development and implementation of legislation, policies, projects and programmes in the field of alternative transport fuels and contribute towards an energy-efficient, decarbonised transport sector. -facilitate exchanges of information on initiatives, projects and partnerships dealing with alternative transport fuels; -deliver opinions, submit reports, or develop and propose innovative solutions to the Commission, either at the latter's request or on its own initiative, on any matter of relevance to the promotion of alternative transport fuels in the Union. The STF may set up sub-groups to examine specific questions. The Commission's representative may give observer status to international organisations and other bodies engaged in, or with a direct interest in alternative transport fuels, as well as to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and candidate countries. The first task of theForum will be to prioritise the issues to be addressed within each of these Sub-Groups in order to focus and to streamline their future work. It is estimated that it will hold meetings 3 times a year for the entire Forum, and 3 times for each Subgroup. The first meeting of the Forum tentatively scheduled for June.

Selection procedure: The current STF members were appointed on 15 June 2015 by the Director-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), following an open call for applications, for a period running until 31 December 2020. On 16 December 2020, the Director-General of DG MOVE extended the term of the appointed STF members for another 2 years, until 31 December 2022. The Commission is now launching a new call for applications to re-establish the Type C members of the STF, for a maximum 5 year term starting on 1 January 2023.

Rules of procedure: The STF and the sub- groups shall adopt its rules of procedure on the basis of the standard rules of procedures for expert groups. The draft rules of procedure are attached. They are scheduled for approval on the first meeting of the STF, on 29 June 2015
