Mission: The mission of this group, chaired by DG Environment (Unit D.2 "Natural Capital and Ecosystem Health"), is to assist the Commission in the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. It brings together the European Commission, Member States' representatives and various stakeholders as well as the European Environment Agency in order to provide advice to the Commission on the development and implementation of biodiversity initiatives, to foster an exchange views and coordinate issues related to the implementation of the Nature Directives (Birds Directive and Habitats Directive). This Group also provides input to the EU Nature Directors as appropriate.
Task: Assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of existing Union legislation, programmes and policies

Selection procedure: The EUBP is an informal Expert Group. The Commission launched in January 2022 a call for applications for the selection of Type C members of the EUBP. The selected members will be published in the Register of Commission Expert Groups. A call for applications for the selection of up to five (5) additional ‘Type C members’ for the sub-group "Working Group on Invasive Alien Species" was published with deadline 6 July 2018. The selected members will be published in the Register of Commission expert Groups.
