Launch of a new initiative by former Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt.

Europe is currently facing major changes, with ageing populations, an economy in transition thanks to globalisation and digitalisation, and large-scale migration, both within and into Europe. How can we address youth unemployment, increase labour market participation and ensure the financing for the welfare system when more and more people will live to be 100 years old?

The answer is that the labour market must work for everyone. Europe needs a Work-First Principle as part of its economic policy. Fredrik Reinfeldt, former Prime Minister of Sweden 2006-2014, has created a framework for achieving a sustainable increase in the number of jobs in Europe: The Reinfeldt Initiative.
