In preparation for the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which will take place in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015 (COP21/CMP11) -a crucial deadline as it must result in a new international climate agreement to keep global warming below 2°C- the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region will host the MEDCOP21 (Mediterranean Climate Conference), a meeting at the Mediterranean level in Marseille on 4-5 June 2015. This event is organised with the presence and support of the President of the French Republic Mr François Hollande.

Following an opening presentation by Mr Hollande, the programme will be organised over 2 days, around four roundtable discussions and six workshops, in which the EIB will be participating.

The round table discussions will be arranged in plenary sessions to open up debate on the transversal issues shared by all: Mediterranean governmental strategies; the implications for civil society in climate change adaptation and mitigation; and tools for technical and financial assistance.

More information can be found on the official website of the event. For questions related to the EIB participation, please contact the EIB Paris Office (tel. +33-1 55 04 74 55).
