On 1 and 2 December, Milan hosts the European conference “Renaturing Cities: Systemic Urban Governance for Social Cohesion”. The conference’s aim is the creation of sustainable urban development policies to match the needs of the territory, the economy , the local government and the citizenship.
The event is co-organized by the Scientific Committee for EXPO 2015 of the Milan City Hall, the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, with the support of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The location of the event, which starts at 10:00 A.M., is the Aula Magna of the Politecnico of Milan in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, 32.
The conference’s focus is on urban governance instruments based on a strong public-private cooperation facilitating the interaction among politics, economy and spontaneous grassroots initiatives. In the light of EXPO 2015 the conference aims at showing that sustainable urban development experiences in Europe are an effective paradigm for similar actions at international level.
