What role would the European Parliament (EP) play in the selection of the new President of the European Commission? Would the powers and influence of the EP continue to grow? Is the EP the solution to the democratic deficit problem of the EU?

These and other questions would be central in a forthcoming  roundtable debate which takes places under the auspices of the 7th Pan-European Conference on the European Union, organized by the Standing Group on the EU of the European Consortium for Political Research and Leiden University Campus The Hague.  During the event, the participants will present their views and ideas on the present and future of the EP in a discussion moderated by Euro-watcher Joop Hazenberg.
