EPP leaders to meet for Summit in Meise (Brussels) ahead of European Council

EU heads of state and government and opposition leaders of the European People's Party (EPP), along with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission- Herman VAN ROMPUY andJosé Manuel BARROSO - have been invited to participate in the upcoming Summit of the Party, which will take place in Meise, Brussels, on 19 December 2013. On the agenda will be the preparation of the European Council, scheduled for 19 and 20 December.

EPP President Joseph DAUL will host the EPP Summit. EPP Secretary General Antonio LÓPEZ-ISTÚRIZ and the members of the EPP Presidency will also attend.

The EPP currently has 12 out the 28 members in the European Council: Angela MERKEL (Germany), Mariano RAJOY (Spain), Traian BĂSESCU (Romania), Viktor ORBÁN (Hungary), Donald TUSK (Poland), Fredrik REINFELDT (Sweden), Valdis DOMBROVSKIS (Latvia),Enda KENNY (Ireland), Antonis SAMARAS (Greece), Jyrki KATAINEN (Finland), Pedro PASSOS COELHO (Portugal) and Nicos ANASTASIADES (Cyprus).

Date: 19 December 2013, from 11:00 to 15:00 hrs

Venue: The Castle of Bouchout, National Botanic Garden of Belgium, Meise (just outside Brussels)

    A bus will be available for the press at Rue Wiertz (at the crossing with rue Belliard) and will depart at 8:30 hrs

    For security reasons, please ensure that you bring a valid form of identification: journalists and cameramen will be given access to the venue upon presentation of their accreditation badge, issued by the European Council, or their national press ID card.
