Young migrants access better professional careers through Vocational Training
The number of young people not in education, employment or training is frightening (14 million Europeans aged 15-29).
Young migrants in particular face increased risks of such a fate. This is where Vocational Training (VET) can play a significant role for youngsters' professional career prospects, offering them practical training and a diploma at the end of their studies, together with increased possibilities of getting a job before finishing school.
The Leonardo da Vinci scheme put in place by the European Commission supports apprenticeships abroad which can give an international dimension to youngsters' careers.
In the following video you can see the example of a Spanish youngster of migrant background (having spent 9 years in Spain) who excitingly presents the benefits of being enrolled in a VET catering school for his future career. You can also hear about the added-value of the apprenticeship abroad he did through the Leonardo da Vinci programme.
