Many MEPs voiced concern over the intergovernmental nature of this procedure and backed the Commission's preference for working within the usual EU framework, also known as the "Community method". Commission President José Manuel Barroso i on Wednesday presented to Parliament the Commission's opinion on the Treaty change being proposed to allow a permanent crisis mechanism to be set up for the eurozone.
