President of the European Council, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy i, will be in London on Monday morning to meet with the recently elected UK Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron i. The pair will participate in a working breakfast, beginning at 08.00 (London time).

David Cameron became leader of the UK government following elections in May 2010. He leads a coalition government composed of his party, the Conservative Party, and the Liberal Democrat Party.

Council of the European Union (Council)

In the Council, government ministers from each EU country meet to discuss, amend and adopt laws, and coordinate policies. The ministers have the authority to commit their governments to the actions agreed on in the meetings.

Together with the European Parliament , the Council is the main decision-making body of the EU.
