Bas Eickhout (1976) is a member of the European Parliament since 2009 on behalf of GroenLinks, the Dutch green and leftwing liberal party. He was frontrunner at the 2014 elections for the European Parliament for his party. Prior to his election Eickhout was a senior researcher at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. As MEP he focuses on climate, energy and environmental policy, and to a lesser extent the eurocrisis.
