Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency is a successor to the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC). CHAFEA carries out duties assigned to it by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety. It manages relations with some 2800 beneficiaries and contractors working on nearly 400 projects/service contracts in the fields of health, consumer protection and food safety. It has about 50 staff members based in Luxembourg.
CHAFEA started work on 1 January 2014. Its mandate extends until 2024. It administers:
-the EU Health Programme
-the Consumer Programme
-the Better Training for Safer Food initiative.
It also promotes EU agricultural products at an international level.
