[17] As regards forest fire fighting and relevant activities supported by the EC, according to Article 4 of the LIFE+ Regulation (EC) No 614/2007 the specific objectives of the LIFE+ Programme's component "LIFE+ Information and Communication" include activities targeted on forest fire prevention and training on forest fire prevention. Currently there are three ongoing projects from the Call for proposals 2008. FORESTFIRE (PL) aims to reduce the risk of forest fire caused by human activities by raising awareness of forest fire prevention. EEFOREST (PT) expecting to reduce the number of forest fires in Tavira municipality by increasing the efficiency of forest awareness campaigns. FFPE (EE) focuses on enhancing implementation of forest fire prevention measurements and increasing awareness of protection against forest fires at a national level.

[19] In 2007, there was one request for transport financing of a total value of around € 0.03 million; the total value of the transport co-financing during 2008 and 2009 stayed at around € 0.4 million yearly; in 2010, it reached around € 6.6 million (for 55 requests), and in 2011 it has increased to € 10.8 million (for 35 requests) so far.
