Article 1
The Commission is hereby authorised to open the negotiation for an international legal instrument relating to intellectual prope rty, genetic resources and traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources in the context of the Wo rid Intellectual Prope rty Organization on behalf of the Union, in consultation with the Intellectual Prope rty Wo r k i n g Party (the special committee).
